A large bronze tripod incense burner

Of inverted bell shape, the body cast in relief with lotus flowers and foliate motifs, flanked by elephant-head handles with raised trunks and supported on three elephant-head feet. The domed cover is similarly decorated and surmounted by a reclining elephant finial carrying a bowl of gemstones. The heavy casting is finished with a rich chocolate-brown patina and inlaid coloured glass.

Hight: 36.3 cm and 39.5 cm including the woorden stand.

Condition: Very good, with some minor wear; a number of gemstones missing.
